From the home of the Tarheels to Chocolate City is Mike Lights, the new addition to hip-hop's latest surge of pop-friendly cool kids from the suburbs. Recently, I checked him out at a private listening party for his new mixtape dropping on August 3Oth. He looks the part, sporting a mohawk and skinny jeans with a healthy bravado. But the question remains: Can he rise as a premiere talent in the The District and ultimately the world? In my interview with Mike Lights he explains why the odds may be on his side.
